So this whole entry is a part of my research to give a flavour of how and what I look at for inspiration, information, news and learning. from Empire Magazine and The advanced art of stop-motion animation by Ken A Priebe respectfully.
Above is a double page of Del Torro sketches that caught my eye. I find his work so rich and full of character.
An interview with the makers of the Lego movie.
When deciding what to do for my FMP in the begining I considered all 3 main options: do I do Stop motion, C.GI or Hand drawn?
Of course Stop-motion won out but the thought process has all ways been there.
Im sure in the future when making an animation with a team or by myself I have learned not to just go rushing into the project but to think carefully and consider what medium the story should be told...
It has been illuminating to see what other stop-motion artists have done with their projects such as puppets and the armatures beneath.
Speaking of Armatures and puppet tests, I ran out of time to do a decent puppet/line test so there is a video of me posing the armature else ware on this blog which shows a brief example of the puppets range of flex and move ability...
Silicone and casting puppets info has been invaluable resource to turn to.
Untill reading this book I had no idea that there was a casting silicone as well as moulding silicone as well. Im sure that this will be the right course to take with my own t pose sculpt.
Pete Kozachik interview. Found his experiences enlightening and inspirational.
These talented artists might be lucky to be in the right part of the world but they also have the work ethic to go with it.
Hopefully with more focus I can gain some of that ethic too.
Tray Thomas interview. very enjoyable.
A really great Bibliography from my art of stop-motion book with multiple books and resources to look up... a real eye opener... there is so much to learn and it has been a big eye opener.
Pans Labrinth has been one of my biggest inspirations for this Animation. there are elements of Maleificent, Avatar Navi creatures, Harley Quinn, Nymphs and Dryads from fantasy art and the movement research I will show in the next post...
